Physicochemical properties of succinylated calfskin pepsin-solubilized collagen.
Some physicochemical properties of calfskin pepsin-solubilized collagen (PSC) and succinylated PSC (SPSC) were compared. The amino acid profile remained significantly unchanged. Sodium dodecylsulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis showed that subunits of SPSC migrated less than those of PSC. The denaturation temperatures of PSC and SPSC were 38.4 degrees C and 34.7 degrees C respectively. ...
متن کاملPhysicochemical properties of collagen sheet from bovine femur.
PURPOSE In the present study collagen sheets were prepared from the spongy part of the bovine femur and characterized from the physicochemical point of view. METHODS The physicochemical properties of the collagen sheets were studied using scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) and thermogravimetrical analysis (TGA). RESULTS The SEM studies showed that the collagen sheets are porous and exhibi...
متن کاملPharmacological and physicochemical properties of collagen breakdown-products.
It has been found that the pharmacologically active, low molecular products obtained by digestion of telopeptides-deprived type I collagen with bacterial collagenase is a heterogenous mixture of at least 21 peptides of different molecular weight. They contain 3 to 15 amino acid residues. About 80% of them are tripeptides of the sequence Gly-Pro-X. The most abundant are two peptides: Gly-Pro-Hyp...
متن کاملNereis cuticle collagen. Isolation and properties of a large fragment resistant to proteolysis by bacterial collagenase.
Native cuticle collagen, obtained from Nereis virens, was incubated with purified bacterial collagenase (EC 3.4.4.19). The kinetics of proteolysis were monitored by viscometry, in parallel with similar digestions of calf skin collagen. Comparison of the kinetics of digestion of the two collagens, at similar enzyme to substrate ratios (w/w), showed that the native cuticle collagen was relatively...
متن کاملSoluble Earthworm Cuticle Collagen: a Possible Dimer of Tropocollagen
When soluble earthworm cuticle collagen molecules are subjected to the shearing forces of a flow birefringence instrument, they are broken into particles approximately half the original size. The broken particles resemble vertebrate tropocollagen molecules in their hydrodynamic properties, in levorotatory powers, and in their appearance in the electron microscope. Most significantly, the broken...
